Julianna Marguiles recently called out left-wing antisemitism during a recent podcast appearance and the progressive rot is so horrible that I am not even surprised by the backlash. I’m not really going to get into the backlash because I’m over it. If people won’t wake up to their own Jew-hatred, that’s on them but I’m just done with it—I’ve lost more trans friends in the past two months than ever before.
I’m currently out of town for award season events and was planning to write about yesterday’s activities but instead, I’m writing about antisemitism once again. I have more comments below the paywall so please consider upgrading your subscription to read what I have to say about it.
In short, the large majority of people that I have unfriended and unfollowed are LGBTQ, including fellow members of critics groups. There is massive Jew-hatred within these communities and I really don't get it. I can tell you that I've been called hateful and racist just for existing as a Jew, as a Zionist, and it's exhausting. I’m starting to believe that people really do not understand what it means to be a Zionist as David Schraub has pointed out this year.
One can be a Zionist and still have issues with the Israeli government. Trust me, I know many people that would rather have Benny Gantz or Yair Lapid as Prime Minister right now. Personally, I’d prefer Lapid just because my politics are closer to his. Yesh Atid is center-left whereas National Unity is center to center-right. Anything would be better than Likud or the far-right parties that have NO PLACE in the government coalition.
